This Privacy Policy explains how Common Swift Technologies LLC (“ReceiptScan,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and otherwise processes information when you use the ReceiptScan mobile application and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

By using the Services, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Scope & Eligibility

This Privacy Policy applies to information collected through:

• the ReceiptScan mobile application, and
• our website at https://receiptscan.app.

The Services are intended for individuals 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

We may collect the following information when you create an account, upload content, or interact with the Services:

Account Information

• Email address (required)
• Full name (optional)
• Password hash (for email/password authentication)
• Authentication tokens and device identifiers
• Account preferences (business, education, or personal use indicators)
• Business or education use descriptions (if provided)
• Country and currency preferences
• Onboarding status
• Subscription status and expiration date

User Content

• Receipt images (JPEG, PNG, WebP)
• Manually entered receipt data
• Notes, tags, folders, and categorizations
• Feedback on receipt parsing results

2.2 Receipt Data & Extracted Information

When you upload receipts, we may process and store:

• Merchant or business name
• Business address
• Receipt date
• Total amount
• Individual line items (name, price, order)
• Last four digits of a payment card (if visible on the receipt)
• Metadata such as file size, type, and upload time

Receipt images are stored in secure cloud storage (Supabase Storage).

2.3 AI-Generated & Derived Data

We use automated systems, including artificial intelligence, to analyze receipt images and extract data. This may include:

• Parsed receipt fields
• Categorization results
• Educational tax-related indicators (e.g., potential deductibility flags)
• Explanatory or reasoning text

These outputs are generated automatically and may be incomplete or inaccurate.
All AI-generated data can be reviewed, edited, or replaced by users.

We do not use your data to train proprietary AI models.

2.4 Automatically Collected Information

We may automatically collect certain technical and usage information, including:

• Device identifiers
• Device type and operating system
• App version
• Usage events and feature interactions
• Crash logs and diagnostics
• IP addresses (for security and operational purposes)

3. How We Use Information

We use the collected information to:

• Provide receipt scanning, storage, and organization features
• Extract and display receipt data using AI systems
• Sync data across devices
• Manage subscriptions and premium features
• Communicate with users regarding accounts and subscriptions
• Send transactional and service-related messages
• Improve product performance and reliability
• Detect fraud, abuse, or security issues
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms

4. AI & Automated Processing

ReceiptScan uses third-party AI services (including OpenAI APIs) to process receipt images for text extraction and analysis.

• Receipt data is transmitted to AI providers solely for processing purposes.
• We may use certain data, including receipt images, extracted data, and user-provided corrections, to improve, develop, and train our machine learning and artificial intelligence systems.
• Where feasible, we take steps to reduce the use of directly identifiable information when using data for model improvement. We do not use data to train third-party AI models outside of providing the Services, except as described in this Privacy Policy.
• AI outputs are provided for educational and informational purposes only and do not constitute professional advice.

5. Payments & Subscriptions

All payments and subscriptions are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

We do not store payment card numbers or billing credentials.
We may store limited subscription metadata, such as:

• Subscription status
• Expiration dates
• Transaction identifiers
• Subscription lifecycle events

6. Communications

We may send:

• Account and security emails (e.g., password resets)
• Subscription and billing notifications
• Trial reminders
• One-time cancellation feedback requests
• In-app messages and push notifications (where enabled)
• Marketing or promotional emails

You may opt out of marketing communications at any time.
Transactional and security messages may still be sent when necessary.

7. Analytics & Service Providers

We use third-party service providers to operate and improve the Services, including:

• Google Firebase (analytics and crash reporting)
• Google Analytics (website analytics)
• Mixpanel (usage analytics)
• Adapty (subscription and paywall management)
• OpenAI (receipt parsing and image analysis)
• Supabase (database and cloud storage)

These providers process data on our behalf under contractual obligations.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell personal information.

We may share information:

• With service providers that support our operations
• With Apple or Google for subscription processing
• To comply with legal obligations or lawful requests
• To protect the rights, safety, and integrity of ReceiptScan or its users

9. Data Retention

• Account and receipt data are retained while your account remains active.
• Premium-only data storage may be limited if a Premium subscription expires or is canceled.
• Certain data may be deleted within thirty (30) days after cancellation or downgrade.
• Deleted accounts and receipts may be soft-deleted, anonymized, or retained where required for legal, security, or operational purposes.
• We do not guarantee complete or immediate deletion of all data.

Users are responsible for exporting or backing up their data before canceling subscriptions or deleting accounts.

10. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

• Access your personal information
• Request correction or deletion (subject to retention rules)
• Request data portability
• Opt out of marketing communications

California and EU/EEA users may have additional rights under applicable laws.
